The Alabaster Collection — natural stone lighting
The Alabaster Collection

The quiet weight of real stone

Hand-carved natural alabaster, illuminated from within. Each unrepeatable, every one shaped by millions of years before our hands ever touched it.

Why It's Everywhere Right Now

"This is the year interiors stopped performing and started feeling — and
alabaster, more than any other material, is what that feeling looks like."

Once reserved for European cathedrals and the trade-only showrooms of high-end design houses, alabaster has quietly become the material of the American home in 2026. It belongs to no single style — it warms a minimalist living room, anchors an old-world dining room, softens a modern primary suite. And unlike glass, metal, or fabric, it doesn't reflect light. It holds it.

Our nine pieces are sourced from genuine quarried stone, hand-finished by craftsmen who've worked with this material for years, and built to current US electrical and safety standards — without the trade-only markup.

Inside the Workshop

From quarry block to finished light.

Step inside the workshop where each block of raw alabaster is cut, hollowed, hand-finished, and wired — a process measured in days, not minutes. Press play to watch the stone become a fixture.

The Stone Itself

No two are ever the same.

Every block of alabaster carries millions of years of geological history — recorded in its veining, its translucency, its tonal shifts. We sort the stone before carving, but we don't fight what it wants to be. Four expressions appear most often in our collection.

Honey Clear pattern
Pattern 01

Honey Clear

A warm, near-uniform amber surface with only the gentlest variation — the rarest and most prized expression of the stone.

Flowing Vein pattern
Pattern 02

Flowing Vein

Soft, river-like grey veining that drifts across the surface — atmospheric and quiet, evocative of watercolor on parchment.

Branching Vein pattern
Pattern 03

Branching Vein

Bold mineral lines that fracture the surface in dramatic, almost lightning-like form — striking from any angle, in any light.

Crystalline Drift pattern
Pattern 04

Crystalline Drift

Suspended flecks of lighter crystalline matter, like snowfall caught mid-air — a subtle drift that catches the light from within.

!

Natural variance is the point — not a defect.

Because alabaster is a real natural stone, every fixture you receive will carry its own unique veining and tonal pattern. We can't specify, photograph, or replicate any individual piece — and we don't try to. Honey clarity, flowing veins, branching veins, and crystalline flecks are inherent characteristics of the material, not flaws. If you prefer a perfectly uniform, machine-finished look, we'd kindly suggest a different material in our catalog before placing your order.

Why The Light Feels Different

Most shades reflect light.
Alabaster holds it.

Three common shade materials, side by side. The numbers tell only part of the story — the rest, you'll feel the moment you turn it on.

Recommended

Natural Alabaster

Hand-carved stone

Light passes through the stone itself, picking up the warmth of its mineral content on the way. The result reads as candlelight — soft, golden, with no visible bulb hot-spot. The fixture appears lit from within rather than illuminated from a source.

For Comparison

Glass

Clear or frosted

Transmits the most light of any common shade material — but also reveals the bulb, the filament, and any visible glare directly. Reads as bright, clean, contemporary; can feel cold without a deliberately warm bulb (2700K or below).

For Comparison

Fabric Drum

Linen, silk, paper

Diffuses the bulb evenly and reads as warm and inviting — the standard American living-room shade. But the material itself disappears when lit; what you see is the shape, not the surface.

Where It Belongs

Six rooms.
Six different jobs.

Alabaster scales beautifully — the same material that anchors a 24-foot foyer also softens a bedside table. A practical guide to where each form earns its place.

01 · Foyer Alabaster chandelier in entryway

Statement Chandelier

Foyer & Two-Story Entryway

For double-height entries, hang the bottom of the fixture roughly 7 ft above the floor — or at the second-story landing line. A 28–36" diameter piece reads from both levels.

02 · Dining Alabaster pendant over dining table

Pendant or Linear

Dining Room

Hang the bottom of the fixture 30–34" above the table surface. Match diameter to roughly half the table width — 24" for a 48" round, 40" for a 80" rectangle.

03 · Living Alabaster pendant in living room

Central Chandelier

Living Room

Add the room's length and width in feet — that's roughly your fixture diameter in inches. A 14×18 ft room takes a 32" piece comfortably.

04 · Primary Alabaster pendant and table lamp in primary bedroom

Chandelier + Bedside Pair

Primary Bedroom

Layered light is the move here. A center pendant for ambient, paired alabaster table lamps for reading. The stone's warmth keeps the room feeling intimate, not lit.

05 · Bath Alabaster wall sconce flanking bathroom mirror

Vanity Sconce

Bathroom Vanity

A pair flanking the mirror, mounted at eye level (66–72" from floor), gives the most flattering face light — far better than a single overhead bar.

06 · Hallway Alabaster sconces lining hallway

Sconce Run or Chandelier

Hallway & Stairwell

For long halls, alabaster sconces every 8–10 ft create rhythm without glare. For stairwells with a landing, a vertical pendant draws the eye up the run.

Living With Stone

Three small habits.
A lifetime of patina.

Alabaster is genuine natural stone — substantial, beautiful, and worth treating with the same care you'd give any heirloom piece. These are the only things you really need to know.

01

Lift from the body — never the cord.

The power cord isn't load-bearing. Tension on it strains the internal wiring and can cause connection failures over time. When moving the fixture, always cradle the stone itself.

02

Two hands. Two people, when in doubt.

Stone has weight that surprises people. For chandeliers and larger pendants, plan a two-person install — one to hold, one to wire. Your contractor will thank you.

03

A soft, dry cloth. That's it.

No water, no spray cleaners, no abrasives — they'll dull the finish irreversibly. A microfiber cloth, dusted gently every few weeks, keeps the stone looking the way it did the day it arrived.
